Hi, I’m Kirsten! I am passionate about documentary and portrait photography. I like stories, and try to reflect that in my work. Stories are a powerful point of connection between people that transcend time, culture, and differences; stories bring harmony to humanity.

I graduated from the New York Institute of Photography with a program certification in Professional Photography. I was gifted my first camera in 2013, and it was then that I began the beautiful love affair with light, and trying to capture it. My preferred photographic medium is film, where I use both large (4×5) and small (35mm) formats.

My husband, David, and I frequently travel to Eastern Europe, Southeast Asia, the U.S., and the Middle East for humanitarian aid, and religious ministerial work. These opportunities have been an incredible platform to document stories from an original perspective. Interacting with other cultures, and the narratives of those who are oceans away from my own, is an important value, and one that I strive to reflect in my photography.

What story are you trying to tell? How can I help authentically illustrate your unique perspective? I’d love to hear from you!
